About the role

The Illinois State Police Division of Forensic Services seeks a detail‑oriented Forensic Scientist II to perform forensic examinations of controlled substances, cannabis, intoxicating compounds, and related evidence within the Drug Chemistry Section.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct routine and complex forensic analyses of drug evidence, including controlled substances and cannabis.
• Perform technical reviews of peers’ case files and reports to ensure accuracy and completeness.
• Prepare statistical summaries of casework and related activities for supervisory staff.
• Stay current with forensic literature and advancements in the field.
