Food Service Employee - Cook

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Food Service Employee – Cook to prepare and serve a variety of meals across its campuses and childcare centers. The role involves following standardized recipes, maintaining food safety standards, and delivering a positive dining experience for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare, cook, and serve meals according to recipes and quality standards.
• Follow food safety, sanitation, and health department regulations.
• Maintain cleanliness of kitchen equipment, workstations, and dining areas.
• Receive, store, and rotate food inventory using FIFO practices.
• Monitor food temperatures and ensure proper handling procedures.
• Assist with dishwashing, cleaning, and other kitchen support duties as needed.
• Serve meals at scheduled times and assist with special events, banquets, and dietary requests.
• Report maintenance needs promptly and complete all required trainings.

Required profile

• Compliance with Technical College System of Georgia (TCSG) policy and accreditation standards.
• Ability to travel within the college’s service area as needed.
• Capability to work efficiently in a fast‑paced kitchen environment.
• Strong teamwork and customer‑service orientation.

Required skills

• Knowledge of basic food safety practices.
• Understanding of personal hygiene standards.
• Familiarity with proper cleaning and sanitation procedures.
