Field Sales Consultant, Home Services & Interiors

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Home Services Sales Consultant in Houston, Texas. The consultant sells exterior and interior products and services to customers, mainly by visiting customer homes and trade shows. Most of the time is spent travelling and away from a dedicated office, with sales calls, custom price quotes and warranty and financing presentations.

Key responsibilities

• Make sales calls at customer homes, assess needs, recommend tailored products and negotiate custom price quotes
• Present warranty information and financing options, and maintain profitability
• Complete sales contracts and paperwork, and take measurements to meet installation specifications
• Solicit new customers inside assigned stores and at industry events such as Home Shows
• Maintain local relationships, educate store associates on HDIS offerings and build a pipeline of potential customers
• Seek referrals and attend sales and store team meetings to improve sales techniques

Required profile

• Aged 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• High school diploma or GED
• 1+ year of previous related work experience preferred
• Typical reporting line to a Sales Manager; no direct reports

Required skills

• Preferred: prior in-home or virtual sales experience
• Preferred: prior home improvement industry experience
• Preferred: lead generation experience
• Preferred: computer and app skills (email, iPad, apps)

Physical requirements include continuous standing or walking and lifting moderate-weight materials (8-20 pounds); occasional overnight travel (about 5% of the time). Pay range for California, Colorado, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Nevada, New York City, Ithaca (NY), Westchester County (NY) and Washington residents is $40,000 - $100,000.
