Field Maintenance Laborer – Water/Wastewater

About the role

The Water/Waste Water Field Maintenance Laborer performs duties related to the construction and maintenance of public works projects, utilities, and parks. This position is safety‑sensitive and requires regular outdoor work.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in crew work performing manual labor and semi‑skilled tasks on public works, utility, park, and grounds projects.
• Operate moderate to light equipment such as dump trucks, boom trucks, loaders, bobcat attachments, weed cutters, mowers, cement mixers, tank trucks, backhoes and other tools supporting maintenance operations.
• Perform other related duties as required.

Required profile

• Effective oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to operate commercial telephones and a two‑way radio.
• Capability to read and interpret maps, sketches, drawings, specifications and technical manuals.
• Physical stamina to work in extreme weather, walk, stand, bend or sit for extended periods and lift up to 100 lb.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Class C Groundwater License and Class II Wastewater License (or ability to obtain them within state‑mandated time frame).
• Minimum two years of maintenance experience with skilled operation of moderate to light utility construction equipment.
• Valid Texas driver’s license.

Required skills

• Operation of moderate to light construction equipment (dump trucks, boom trucks, loaders, bobcat attachments, backhoes, etc.).
• Use of two‑way radio communication devices.
• Reading and interpreting technical drawings, maps and specifications.
