Topographic Aerial Sensor Operator

About the role

Woolpert is seeking a Topographic Aerial Sensor Operator to join its Aerial Acquisitions team in Dayton. The role involves operating airborne sensors, planning missions, and ensuring high‑quality geospatial data collection for both domestic and international projects.

Key responsibilities

• Participate in ground and flight operations, including mission planning, briefing, execution, debriefing, communications, and safety.
• Ensure accurate and quality data collection for tactical and wide‑area mapping.
• Download, edit, and troubleshoot sensor data in the field.
• Set up and operate ground GPS base stations and manage flight planning.
• Comply with all governing regulations and established operating procedures.

Required profile

• High School Diploma/GED or two years related experience; degree in GIS, geography, or related field preferred.
• Authorized to work in the United States without employer sponsorship.
• Willingness to travel on a rotating schedule (21 days on, 14 days off), including domestic and international trips.
• Strong customer‑service orientation and excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.

Required skills

• Experience with ESRI ArcGIS software.
• Familiarity with Leica FlightPro and Leica Terrain Mapper.
• Knowledge of TerraSolid and related processing tools.
• Proficiency with ADS 100 and DMC sensor platforms.
• Above‑average Microsoft Office suite skills.
