Faculty Assistant – University of Maryland

About the role

The Faculty Assistant supports the Director of the Partnership for Action Learning in Sustainability (PALS) at the University of Maryland School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation. This role ensures smooth administration of PALS policies, procedures, and documentation while coordinating interactions among faculty, students, and external sponsors.

Key responsibilities

• Assist the Director in developing and updating PALS policies, procedures, and standardized forms.
• Prepare and manage paperwork related to PALS courses, including faculty supply requests.
• Schedule and facilitate scoping meetings with PALS staff, faculty, and sponsors to identify project matches.
• Maintain ongoing relationships between faculty, students, and sponsors throughout the academic year.
• Ensure all required documentation is completed and that scheduled meetings occur as planned.
• Help organize the annual PALS Showcase event.
• Support the Director in cultivating new regional partnerships.

Required profile

• Experience in administrative or program support within an academic or research environment.
• Strong organizational abilities and attention to detail.
• Excellent communication skills for coordinating with multiple stakeholders.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines simultaneously.
