Facilities Coordinator I

About the role

The Facilities Coordinator I provides routine, preventative, and reactive maintenance for a variety of protected environments and campus facilities, including greenhouses, laboratories, and other research spaces. Working under general supervision, the coordinator ensures that all building systems and equipment remain safe, operational, and well‑maintained.

Key responsibilities

• Perform routine preventative and reactive maintenance on buildings, labs, greenhouses, and controlled growing environments.
• Handle basic work requests involving electrical, plumbing, HVAC, carpentry, and mechanical systems.
• Assist with equipment installation and general repairs in research laboratories and greenhouse structures.
• Maintain landscaping and exterior facility areas as needed.
• Promote safe building access practices and report safety concerns.
• Serve as a contact for after‑hours building or facility emergencies.
• Operate vehicles, utility vehicles, and farm machinery to support facility needs.

Required profile

• Works under general supervision to support routine and emergency maintenance tasks.
• Available to respond to after‑hours emergencies as assigned.
• Capable of maintaining a clean, secure, and operational environment for staff, students, and visitors.
