Engineering Manager – Assembly Technology

About the role

The Engineering Manager for Mechanical Conveyance leads a multidisciplinary mechanical engineering team responsible for sustaining, modifying and supporting assembly technology across global sites. You will act as the technical bridge between developers, purchasing, manufacturing and global partners to ensure products are cost‑optimized and locally sourced.

Key responsibilities

• Direct, coach and develop a team of mechanical engineers, defining roles, expectations and capacity plans.
• Serve as primary technical liaison to the MODI team in Germany and the Application Engineering team in the USA.
• Provide first‑line engineering escalation for localized production plants, ensuring quick issue resolution and minimal downtime.
• Oversee mechanical modifications, BOM setup, SAP/PLM change management and design‑to‑cost initiatives.
• Support local purchasing teams with vendor qualification, component substitution and cost‑reduction projects.

Required profile

• Bachelor's or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics or equivalent.
• 8+ years of mechanical design/engineering experience in conveyance or heavy‑industrial machinery.
• 3+ years in a leadership or supervisory engineering role.
• Proven track record in sustaining engineering, value engineering and cost‑innovation.
• Strong communication, strategic thinking and ability to work in international, cross‑functional teams.
