Energy Regulatory Associate (Junior to Midlevel) – SF/Seattle/Portland

About the role

Davis Wright Tremaine LLP is seeking a junior‑to‑midlevel associate to join its nationally recognized energy practice, supporting developers, utilities, data‑center clients and other market participants on regulatory and transactional matters.

Key responsibilities

• Advise clients on Western‑state and federal energy regulatory and policy issues, including ratemaking, interconnection, and large‑load matters.
• Support regulatory proceedings, compliance matters, and diligence for energy infrastructure transactions.
• Draft regulatory filings, client memoranda, and conduct legal research for electric transmission, natural‑gas infrastructure, and climate‑related projects.
• Collaborate across practice groups on infrastructure development, regulatory strategy, and energy‑transition initiatives.

Required profile

• JD from an accredited law school and admission to practice in California or another relevant U.S. jurisdiction.
• 2‑3 years of experience in energy regulatory, project development, or infrastructure matters.
• Strong legal research, writing, and analytical abilities.
• Experience with electric and/or natural‑gas regulatory frameworks preferred.
