Energy and Environment Analyst

About the role

The Energy and Environment Analyst will join SEI US’s Energy Modeling Program, supporting the development and application of leading energy‑system and climate‑policy models. Working in a hybrid setting, you will collaborate with a small, high‑impact team to advance sustainable development solutions for low‑ and middle‑income countries.

Key responsibilities

• Build, calibrate, and run the Low Emissions Analysis Platform (LEAP) and NEMO models for diverse policy projects.
• Provide technical training and ongoing support to government and non‑profit partners.
• Co‑author technical reports, policy briefs, and peer‑reviewed papers.
• Present findings at meetings, workshops, and conferences.
• Contribute to methodological innovations that link energy modeling with sustainable development goals.

Required profile

• University degree in energy systems, environmental science, economics, or a related field.
• Experience with quantitative modeling of energy, emissions, or air‑pollution systems.
• Strong analytical mindset and ability to work independently and in a team.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the LEAP modeling platform.
• Proficiency with the NEMO optimization modeling system.
