Endoscopy Technician - GI Lab

About the role

Jupiter Medical Center, ranked #1 for safety, quality and patient satisfaction in Palm Beach County, is hiring a full-time Endoscopic Technician for its GI Lab. The technician is part of the nursing team, works under the direction of the Registered Nurse and helps keep patients comfortable and well cared for.

Key responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect endoscopes used in GI Lab and pulmonary procedures, and maintain disinfectant solutions while monitoring solution quality and reprocessing effectiveness.
• Assist physicians during procedures (under RN direction) with biopsies, polypectomies, PEGs, ERCPs, specimen collection, EUS and bleeding therapeutics such as clips and banders.
• Document all quality improvement logs accurately and on time in the decontamination room.
• Perform thorough infection prevention measures and promote a safe, error-free environment.
• Orient, coach and mentor new staff.
• Work on-call assignments per department and hospital policy and perform other duties as assigned.

Required profile

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Current Certified Nursing Assistant (C.N.A.) licensure in Florida preferred.
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association for Healthcare Providers.
• Certified Endoscopic Technician through Society Gastroenterology Nurses and Associates preferred.
• Physical ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs and push or pull up to 40 lbs, with long periods of standing, sitting and walking.
