Economist / Senior Economist / Economic Advisor – Macroeconomics

About the role

The Economic Research Department of the Federal Reserve Bank of Chicago is seeking an Economist, Senior Economist, or Economic Advisor to join its Macroeconomics team. The successful candidate will conduct independent, high‑impact research and provide analytical support for the Bank’s policy work.

Key responsibilities

• Design and execute original research on macroeconomic topics such as consumption, investment, labor markets, monetary policy, and fiscal policy.
• Publish findings in leading academic and finance journals.
• Prepare in‑depth analyses for internal policy briefings and external communications.
• Collaborate with a collegial group of economists across a range of research areas.

Required profile

• Strong publication record in economics or finance journals.
• At least three years of experience in an academic or comparable research environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
