Assistant Director for Digital Assets

About the role

The State of Illinois is seeking an experienced professional to serve as Assistant Director for Digital Assets. This senior position oversees the digital asset application process, examination, and supervision of registrants while representing the Director in internal and external meetings.

Key responsibilities

• Administer overall management of digital asset applications, examinations, and ongoing supervision of registrants.
• Direct, coordinate, and review activities of support and management personnel, acting as a full‑line supervisor.
• Develop and execute key initiatives and compliance measures related to digital assets, markets, participants, and underlying technologies.
• Serve as spokesperson for the Director, attending sensitive meetings and providing updates to agency executives.
• Stay current on trends in digital asset markets, virtual‑currency products, data privacy, and anti‑money‑laundering initiatives.

Required profile

• Senior public service experience in fiscal management, accounting, budgeting, internal audit, or related financial functions.
• Demonstrated ability to supervise staff and manage complex regulatory programs.
• Strong communication skills for representing the agency to external stakeholders.

Required skills

• Knowledge of digital asset technologies and market regulations.
• Understanding of anti‑money‑laundering and data‑privacy requirements.
