Economic Empowerment AmeriCorps Member – Richmond, VA

About the role

The International Rescue Committee (IRC) is seeking an Economic Empowerment AmeriCorps Member to join its ReEstablish Richmond program. In this one‑year service role, you will work directly with refugees and new immigrants, helping them navigate resources and achieve economic self‑sufficiency.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct full intake assessments to identify client needs and employment goals.
• Develop individualized action plans and guide clients through a six‑session curriculum.
• Connect clients to community partners, job training, and other economic resources.
• Maintain accurate case records and track progress toward goals.
• Participate in community outreach events, including evenings and weekends as needed.

Required profile

• Passionate about serving newcomers and advancing economic empowerment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
• Commitment to a 40‑hour work week and completion of 1,700 service hours.

Required skills

• Client intake and assessment experience.
• Knowledge of local employment resources and workforce development programs.
• Basic case management and documentation skills.
