About the role
The Early Employment & Career Development Intern will support IRC New York’s early employment programs, assisting newly arrived refugees and immigrants as they pursue career goals. This unpaid, part‑time role offers flexible remote or on‑site work over a 3‑4 month period, ideal for academic‑year students.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑on‑one job coaching and employment counseling.
- Assist clients with resumes, cover letters, and interview preparation.
- Conduct client enrollments, assessments, and follow‑ups.
- Track client progress using spreadsheets and ETO software.
- Research job and vocational training opportunities in NYC.
- Support Job Readiness Trainings via Zoom or WhatsApp.
- Maintain and update client and employer databases.
- Help with administrative tasks and day‑to‑day program operations.
- Build and maintain employer and partner relationships.
- Collaborate with other IRC teams while upholding confidentiality policies.
Required profile
- Academic‑year student or recent graduate with a passion for humanitarian work.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Detail‑oriented and able to manage multiple tasks.
- Commitment to IRC’s core values of integrity, service, equality, and accountability.
Required skills
- Microsoft Excel (spreadsheets).
- Zoom video‑conferencing platform.
