DOL Services Specialist – Valdosta Career Center

About the role

The Georgia Department of Labor is seeking a DOL Services Specialist to join the Valdosta Career Center. In this role you will support job seekers and employers, delivering employment services that align with the department’s mission to strengthen Georgia’s workforce.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct interviews with job, program, or unemployment applicants to gather information and determine eligibility.
• Provide job counseling, career development, and assessment services to match client skills with available vacancies.
• Develop and deliver workshops on job readiness, resume writing, and modern job‑search techniques.
• Maintain professional relationships with local employers to create employment opportunities for clients.
• Refer clients to complementary services such as literacy, language instruction, transportation assistance, and childcare.

Required profile

• High school diploma or GED with at least two years of related experience, or an associate’s degree.
• Preferred: undergraduate degree and knowledge of Department of Labor rules and regulations.
• Strong communication and interpersonal abilities to work with diverse client populations.

• Understanding of DOL regulations and employment services processes.
