District Advance Transportation Planning Director

About the role

The District Advance Transportation Planning Director leads the development and implementation of transportation planning activities within the district. Reporting to senior engineering leadership, this role coordinates closely with governmental agencies, the public, and internal teams to shape regional mobility strategies.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee data collection, analysis, forecasting, and plan development for transportation projects.
• Lead district participation in the Unified Transportation Program, State Transportation Plan, and related action plans.
• Manage long‑range and short‑range transportation planning, collaborating with Regional Mobility Authorities and Metropolitan Planning Organizations to produce the annual Transportation Improvement Program and Metropolitan Transportation Plans.
• Represent the district at meetings, public hearings, and stakeholder forums.
• Serve as liaison with local officials and the public on proposed project development and planning.
• Perform additional duties as assigned by senior leadership.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in transportation planning, public transportation, or engineering (graduate education may substitute for experience).
• Minimum five (5) years of transportation planning experience.
• At least three (3) years of supervisory or managerial experience.
• Valid driver’s license required for state vehicle operation.
