Director, Strategic Planning & Operations

About the role

The Director, Strategic Planning & Operations (SPO) leads the U.S. Bone Health business unit at Amgen, ensuring its effective operation while driving strategic initiatives critical to its growth. Reporting directly to the VP/GM of the Bone Health Business Unit, the role works closely with the business unit leadership team, Marketing, Sales and cross-functional partners such as Market Access, Medical, Finance, Business Insights, Patient Services, Regulatory, Supply and Global colleagues. It supports the business unit's operating rhythm, performance management and governance, and leads strategic cross-functional projects such as AI adoption, operating-model evolution and commercial transformation.

Key responsibilities

• Provide strategic and operational leadership for the business unit, coordinating planning and prioritization across Marketing, Sales and partners
• Support the VP/GM and business unit leadership in decision-making and execution
• Lead annual and long-range planning and manage the business unit's operating cadence and key forums
• Drive performance management, business reporting, insights and action planning
• Facilitate Marketing-Sales integration and prepare presentations and reports for governance meetings
• Lead cross-functional strategic projects, including AI adoption and process transformation

Required profile

• Master's degree and 7 years of project management experience, or Bachelor's degree and 9 years
• 4 years of leadership experience leading teams, projects, programs or allocating resources
• Preferred: biopharmaceutical experience, marketing experience at director level, bone health or osteoporosis experience, and experience leading transformation initiatives
• Ability to lead complex initiatives through influence in a matrixed environment
