Director, Simulation and Evaluation - Autonomous Driving

About the role

As Director of Simulation and Evaluation you will lead the Global AI Backbone, designing multi‑level simulation ecosystems to train, evaluate and validate next‑generation autonomous driving foundation models. You will ensure AI systems are statistically proven safe and robust before deployment.

Key responsibilities

• Define and execute the roadmap for high‑throughput, closed‑loop AI simulation and foundation model strategy.
• Research and propose new methodologies to assess quality, safety and realism of ML models for L2++ and L4 automated driving stacks.
• Architect evaluation frameworks and build tools for rapid iteration of foundation models, linking improvements to fleet‑wide performance.
• Lead development of generative world models, data pipelines for signal discovery, labeling and metric computation at scale.
• Establish the gold‑standard evaluation criteria that drive Start‑of‑Production and model release decisions.
• Mentor and inspire a global cross‑functional team of software engineers, data scientists and ML experts.

Required profile

• Master’s or PhD in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, Statistics, Physics or related field.
• 10+ years software engineering experience, with focus on embedded, automotive or robotics systems.
• 7+ years leading complex ADAS or autonomous driving projects from concept to production.
• 5+ years experience with large‑scale AI, LLMs or generative models for simulation and behavior prediction.
• Proven expertise in multi‑level simulation platforms, high‑fidelity sensor simulation and scalable object‑level simulation.
