Director, Search Engine Optimization (Temp)

About the role

Horizon Media is looking for a highly motivated Director to lead its rapidly growing Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Answer Engine Optimization (AEO) practice. The role manages multiple teams and client portfolios, combining team leadership, client relationship building, strategy development and mentorship of junior staff. It is listed as a temporary position.

Key responsibilities

• Lead client relationships on behalf of the Search team (30%) and manage a subset of the team across multiple clients, setting up processes for creating, running, tracking, analysing and optimising search campaigns in Google AdWords, Yahoo! Search Marketing, Bing and others (30%)
• Motivate team members from junior analysts through associate directors to improve client performance (25%)
• Drive new business from RFP completion and strategy development through to handover to Horizon management (15%)
• Evaluate new technologies, strategies and techniques and gauge their potential for experimentation (5%)
• Directly supervise Associate Directors, Supervisors and Analysts and manage the team overall

Required profile

• 8+ years of experience in a SEO-heavy environment or specifically in SEO
• Bachelor's degree
• Expert knowledge of all aspects of SEO and of AI search fundamentals and how brands appear in LLMs and AI responses
• Ability to manage processes and projects across several clients at once, and strong written and verbal communication skills

Required skills

• Google Analytics and Microsoft Office
• Screaming Frog, MOZ, SEMRush, Brightedge, Conductor and similar tools
• AI visibility platforms such as Profound, Scrunch and Adobe LLM Optimizer
• Keyword research, on-site optimisation, analytics interpretation and CRO (A/B testing)
• HTML, PHP, JavaScript and/or CSS (huge plus); Brightedge and Google Analytics certifications (big and helpful plus respectively)
