Director of Sales

About the role

The Lofton Hotel, a premier Tapestry Collection property in downtown Minneapolis, is seeking a dynamic Director of Sales to lead its sales strategy across corporate, group, catering, and leisure segments. You will work closely with hospitality professionals to drive revenue growth and deliver exceptional guest experiences.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise sales staff, plan market segment development, and approve contracts and bookings.
• Lead strategic planning, goal setting, yield and revenue management, and produce period‑end reports.
• Act as liaison with advertising, public‑relations agencies, and the Marketing Manager.
• Prospect, solicit, and develop accounts through multiple communication channels.
• Conduct site inspections, host clients on‑ and off‑property, and ensure thorough follow‑up.
• Represent the hotel at trade shows, civic events, industry associations, and other promotional activities.
• Maintain active participation in a corporate‑sponsored industry association and oversee the Hotel Customer Really Matters (CRM) program.

Required profile

• Four‑year college degree preferred or equivalent education/training in hotel sales.
• Strong communication skills, both written and oral.
• Basic mathematical ability for room block calculations, average rates, and forecasts.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel as needed.
• Flexibility to work varying schedules based on hotel business needs.

Required skills

• Knowledge of CAST (revenue management system) preferred.
• Understanding of Hotel Market Matrix and Salt Scores.
• Proficient computer knowledge.
