Director of Oncology Research Finance

About the role

The Director of Oncology Research Finance provides strategic and operational leadership for the activation of oncology clinical trials across industry, cooperative groups, investigator‑initiated and translational research portfolios at Ochsner Health.

Key responsibilities

• Lead trial activation from feasibility through site activation, establishing performance metrics and dashboards to identify and resolve delays in budgeting, contracting, regulatory review and system builds.
• Develop and oversee financial strategies for sponsored oncology research, including budget creation, cost estimation, feasibility analysis and alignment with institutional policies.
• Partner with legal and contracts teams to accelerate agreement execution, manage cross‑functional milestones, and ensure regulatory compliance.
• Oversee CTMS and related systems, ensuring accurate budget entry, reporting on activation timelines, and supporting integration initiatives with OnCore and EPIC.
• Direct and develop the Oncology Trial Activations team, setting performance expectations, professional development plans and fostering a culture of accountability.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred.
• 6+ years of clinical research administration experience, with strong emphasis on oncology research operations.
• Proven experience leading cross‑functional teams and managing complex trial activation processes.
