Director of Admissions, Veterinary Medicine

About the role

The Director of Admissions leads the strategic and operational management of the School of Veterinary Medicine’s admissions and recruiting process, from prospective‑student outreach through application review, selection, offer and enrollment. This builder role will design and implement admissions processes, systems and pipelines for the inaugural classes of the University of Maryland Eastern Shore’s Veterinary Medicine program.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and execute a data‑informed recruitment and enrollment plan to attract a highly qualified, mission‑aligned and diverse class of veterinary students.
• Oversee the full admissions cycle, including prospecting, application review, selection, offer issuance and yield management.
• Ensure all admissions practices are holistic, equitable, transparent and compliant with AVMA COE accreditation standards and University System of Maryland policies.
• Serve as the primary public face and point of contact for DVM admissions, collaborating with the Dean’s office, Admissions Committee, faculty and university partners.
• Design and implement admissions processes, systems and recruitment pipelines from the ground up.

Required profile

• Proven experience leading admissions, recruitment or enrollment operations in higher education or a related field.
• Demonstrated ability to build and scale admissions processes for new academic programs.
• Strong commitment to the school’s access‑oriented mission and to fostering diversity in the veterinary profession.
• Knowledge of AVMA Council on Education accreditation requirements and university‑wide compliance standards.
• Excellent collaboration skills with senior academic leaders, faculty and external partners.
