Diagnostic Technologist – Student

About the role

This student position supports diagnostic radiology services at Lehigh Valley Health Network. Under the guidance of a registered technologist, you will perform quality imaging while adhering to radiation safety standards and delivering excellent patient care.

Key responsibilities

• Provide radiation protection in line with safety standards, using appropriate exposure factors, collimation, and documentation.
• Produce diagnostic‑quality images, process them, and ensure they are uploaded to PACS for radiologist interpretation.
• Verify physician orders, attach images to the correct patient record, and confirm all required documentation is complete.
• Maintain equipment, report malfunctions, and assist with cleaning and sanitation of the work area.
• Support training of new employees, students, and ancillary staff.

Required profile

• High school diploma/GED and currently enrolled in an accredited radiology program (second‑year student).
• Ability to handle confidential patient information ethically.
• Physical ability to lift and transport patients and equipment, stand for long periods, and perform CPR if needed.

Required skills

• Radiation protection and safety procedures.
• Operation of radiologic imaging equipment and PACS.
• Basic Life Support certification (American Heart Association).
• Knowledge of medical technology terminology.
