Design Engineer II - Outdoor Power Equipment

About the role

TTI Consumer Power Tools, Inc. is hiring a Design Engineer II in its Anderson, SC office for New Product Development Engineering in outdoor power equipment. The engineer works under the guidance of senior engineers and engineering leadership, contributing to product development from concept through production by creating detailed designs, supporting prototype builds, conducting testing and helping with product validation.

Key responsibilities

• Own the design of assigned components, sub-assemblies or systems, from concept and layout through detailed CAD to validation and production release.
• Develop and maintain 3D CAD models, 2D drawings, GD&T, tolerance stacks and specifications, and carry out design trade-off analyses.
• Design for manufacturing, cost and quality, working with manufacturing engineering, sourcing, quality and suppliers, and support value engineering and continuous improvement.
• Ensure designs meet internal standards and regulatory requirements, including UL, ANSI, CSA and ISO expectations.
• Support DFMEA inputs, design verification plans (tolerance validation, stress analysis, durability, environmental and abuse testing) and engineering change documentation.
• Work with Product Management on customer requirements and support Manufacturing Engineering during pilot builds, PPAP and ramp-up.

Required profile

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline.
• 3-5 years of design experience in consumer, industrial or electromechanical products; internship and co-op experience considered.
• Effective written and verbal communication, strong analytical and problem-solving skills, and comfort in a fast-paced product development environment.
• Preferred: NPD and manufacturing experience, hands-on mechanical aptitude, prototype assembly and testing experience, and up to 25% travel (international and domestic).
