About the role
The Deputy Chief Data Officer will partner with the CDO to drive cross‑functional data, analytics and machine‑learning initiatives across Social Discovery Group’s global product portfolio. Reporting remotely, the role focuses on turning strategic concepts into measurable outcomes that enhance user connection and business growth.
Key responsibilities
- Own execution of strategic initiatives spanning ML, experimentation and data platform domains.
- Lead 2–3 high‑priority projects in the first three months, defining scope, aligning stakeholders and delivering measurable results.
- Maintain predictable delivery through rigorous planning, coordination and status tracking.
- Resolve stalled projects by clarifying ownership, managing dependencies and escalating risks early.
- Build and run an execution framework including monthly business reviews, quarterly planning, retrospectives and escalation processes.
- Establish a single source of truth for project status, risks and commitments.
- Improve the experimentation ecosystem to speed decision‑making and reduce manual effort.
- Accelerate ML delivery cycles from idea to production, coordinating across ML, backend, analytics and product teams.
- Ensure ML initiatives generate measurable business impact.
- Coach functional leads in product analytics, data engineering, ML and UX on prioritisation, execution discipline and performance feedback.
- Own operational excellence metrics such as data freshness, uptime, SLA adherence and delivery predictability.
Required profile
- 6–10+ years of experience in data, analytics or machine‑learning fields, with 3–5+ years in leadership roles.
- Proven record of delivering cross‑functional projects that involve ML, data platforms, experimentation and analytics.
- Background in product‑focused companies rather than pure consulting environments.
- Strong understanding of data‑driven product development and the ability to translate technical work into business value.
