Data Scientist Internship – Predictive Modeling & Analytics

About the role

Join Netspend's data team as a Data Scientist Intern and help turn raw data into actionable insights. Working under senior data scientists, you will contribute to predictive modeling projects that support the company's financial services initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Build, test, and deploy standard machine learning models (regression, classification, clustering) under guidance.
• Extract, clean, and transform structured and unstructured data using SQL and Python/R.
• Conduct routine testing and validation of existing models, identifying performance issues.
• Create dashboards and visual reports with Tableau, PowerBI, or matplotlib for business stakeholders.
• Identify opportunities to automate data processing and modeling workflows.
• Collaborate with data engineers, product managers, and business units to translate objectives into technical requirements.

Required profile

• Current enrollment in a Bachelor’s or Master’s program in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field.
• Strong analytical mindset with a willingness to learn and apply statistical concepts.
• Ability to work independently under general instruction and within a team environment.
