Data Scientist - Generative BI

About the role

The Home Depot is hiring a Data Scientist focused on Generative BI. The role drives business profitability and modernized analytics by configuring, tuning and scaling GenBI capabilities. Day-to-day work centers on practical AI enablement: turning user feedback and analytical friction into technical solutions, building and maintaining semantic layers, curating golden SQL examples, setting up automated regression testing for AI-generated answers and integrating new data sources into a scalable multi-agent architecture.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop algorithms and models on large datasets to create business insights, and act as technical lead on analytics projects
• Communicate insights and recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical leaders and business partners, and present them confidently
• Prepare reports, updates and presentations on project progress and solution impact
• Work with internal customers and cross-functional teams to define project goals and incorporate business knowledge
• Keep improving data science and analytics by documenting solutions and building a library of reusable, documented algorithms

Required profile

• Age 18 or older and legally permitted to work in the United States
• Bachelor's degree or equivalent in a field related to the job
• 4+ years of experience in business intelligence and analytics
• Preferred: Master's degree in a quantitative field or equivalent experience

Required skills

• Modern scripting language, preferably Python
• Querying data, preferably with Google BigQuery or SQL
• Generative AI chatbots, LLMs or conversational analytics
• Databricks ecosystem
• Statistical techniques, predictive modeling, data mining and analysis
• GitHub repositories and CI/CD practices
