Data Engineer – Investment Management

About the role

The United Nations Joint Staff Pension Fund’s Office of Investment Management is seeking two Data Engineers to join its Business Intelligence Team in New York. You will help design, build, and operate data pipelines and platforms that support investment and risk‑management decision‑making for a $100+ billion global portfolio.

Key responsibilities

• Design and develop data solutions in partnership with investment, risk, analytics and technology stakeholders.
• Build, test, deploy, and maintain production data pipelines and lakehouse components on cloud platforms.
• Implement DevOps practices such as version control, CI/CD, automated testing, monitoring and incident response.
• Ensure data systems comply with governance, privacy and security requirements.
• Create and maintain technical documentation, data models, lineage and operating procedures.

Required profile

• Minimum five years of progressive data‑engineering experience, including production ETL/ELT pipelines.
• Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with ability to work independently and manage priorities.
• Professionalism and teamwork, with clear communication of technical concepts to non‑technical stakeholders.

Required skills

• Advanced SQL and Python programming.
• Experience with cloud data platforms such as Snowflake, Databricks, AWS or Azure.
• Proficiency with DevOps tools like Azure DevOps, Git, dbt and Airflow.
• Data modelling, database design and data‑governance practices.
• Familiarity with AI‑assisted engineering tools is desirable.
