About the role
The Dallas District Spokesperson/Public Information Officer serves as the primary liaison between the district, media outlets, and the public. This role handles sensitive and complex issues, ensuring accurate and timely communication across multiple channels.
Key responsibilities
- Write and distribute news releases and social‑media posts about department projects and programs.
- Respond to public inquiries and represent the district at hearings and meetings.
- Coordinate media briefings, arrange interviews, and manage relationships with print and broadcast outlets.
- Interpret policies, organize special events such as road opening ceremonies and VIP visits, and draft speeches.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Public Relations or a related field (experience may substitute for education).
- 4‑5 years of experience in public relations, communications, or a related area.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a state vehicle.
- Willingness to undergo a pre‑employment physical and drug test.
