Custodian – Facilities Maintenance

About the role

The Custodian provides a clean, safe, and pleasant environment for the Georgetown University community across its Main Campus. This full‑time position works 40 hours per week, following a detailed cleaning plan and responding to emergency or special event needs.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general and specific cleaning tasks covering 28,000–35,000 sq ft per shift.
• Handle snow and ice removal, water or fire damage cleanup, and support for special events.
• Use standard custodial tools, equipment, and supplies while adhering to all safety regulations.
• Report to custodial supervisors and, when required, to the Night Operations Manager or other facilities managers.
• Maintain accurate attendance, clock‑in/out times, and professional conduct.

Required profile

• Ability to follow detailed cleaning plans and supervisor guidance.
• Physical capability to perform extensive cleaning and manual tasks.
• Flexibility to work various shifts, including nights and weekends, and respond to emergencies.
• Strong teamwork attitude while also able to work independently.
