Custodian – Campus Facilities

About the role

Georgetown University seeks a dedicated Custodian to maintain a clean, safe, and pleasant environment across its campuses. Working full‑time, you will follow a detailed cleaning plan and support the university community during regular operations and special events.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general and specific cleaning tasks covering 28,000‑35,000 sq ft per shift.
• Remove snow and ice, and respond to water or fire damage cleanup.
• Provide cleaning support for special events and emergency situations.
• Use standard tools, equipment, and supplies while adhering to safety regulations.
• Report to a Custodial Supervisor and follow assignments from facilities managers as needed.

Required profile

• Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
• Reliability in attendance, clock‑in/out, and adherence to university policies.
• Flexibility to adjust schedule for emergencies or special events.
• Professional demeanor when representing the department to students, staff, and visitors.

Required skills

• Operation of standard cleaning equipment (e.g., floor scrubbers, vacuums).
• Knowledge of safety procedures and proper use of cleaning chemicals.
