Counselor – Supported Employment (Level 1)

About the role

Under direct supervision, the Counselor 1 Supported Employment provides vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities, helping them achieve competitive, integrated employment. The position is based at the Johns Creek office and serves clients in Gainesville and surrounding areas.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain referral sources.
• Conduct interviews with participants, assess eligibility, and interpret education, vocational, psychological, and medical information.
• Travel within the caseload area to meet clients, providers, and partners.
• Create individualized employment plans, authorize services, and monitor case progress.
• Guide participants through job‑search activities, set employment goals, and move cases to closure.
• Document all activities accurately in the AWARE client information system.
• Maintain confidentiality and provide public education about rehabilitation services.
• Process authorizations and invoices in accordance with agency policies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in psychology, social work, rehabilitation counseling or a related behavioral/social science field.
• At least two years of related work experience.
• Preference for a master’s degree in a related discipline and/or CRC credential.
• Ability to travel locally and occasionally lift up to 25 lb.
