Counselor 1 (T) – Vocational Rehabilitation

About the role

The State of Georgia is seeking a Counselor 1 (T) to deliver vocational rehabilitation services to individuals with disabilities. Working under direct supervision, you will help clients achieve competitive, integrated employment outcomes while traveling within your assigned area.

Key responsibilities

• Develop and maintain referral sources to generate service opportunities.
• Conduct interviews with potential participants, applicants, and clients.
• Review and interpret education, vocational, psychological, and medical information.
• Travel within the caseload area to meet individuals, providers, and partners.
• Assist in eligibility determination, needs assessment, and individualized employment planning.
• Guide participants through the rehabilitation process, including job‑search support and case closure.
• Monitor client progress and ensure timely service delivery.
• Document case information accurately in the AWARE client information system.
• Maintain confidentiality in accordance with departmental guidelines.
• Provide public education about rehabilitation services and capture reporting data.
• Process authorizations and invoices for services per policy.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Sociology, Social/Human Services, Rehabilitation, or a related field.
• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration abilities.
• Ability to travel within the assigned geographic area.
• Commitment to confidentiality and ethical standards.
