Corporate Counsel – Litigation

About the role

Mercedes‑Benz USA is seeking an experienced Corporate Counsel to lead its litigation function. The role focuses on class‑action and consumer litigation, advertising and marketing law, and provides cross‑functional business counseling to ensure compliant, customer‑focused practices across the organization.

Key responsibilities

• Manage internal and external teams handling class‑action litigation, including Magnuson‑Moss, breach of warranty, product liability and related claims.
• Advise business units on legal risks, guide resolution of customer claims, and keep stakeholders informed of legal issues.
• Review marketing and advertising materials (digital, print, social, email, broadcast) for legal compliance and accuracy.
• Develop proactive strategies for evaluating and resolving litigation and pre‑litigation claims while controlling costs.
• Coordinate discovery, identify witnesses, appear on behalf of the company, and align litigation strategy with business partners.
• Lead interdisciplinary and international working groups, collaborate with corporate communications on press releases and social media.
• Supervise paralegals, conduct legal research, and document findings in formal memoranda.
• Utilize AI and other technology tools to efficiently manage legal matters and provide ad‑hoc legal support.
