About the role
The State Ethics Commission, attached to the State Accounting Office, seeks qualified attorneys (levels 1‑4) to support its mission of overseeing campaign finance compliance in Georgia. Working under the supervision of a senior attorney, you will contribute to legal research, document preparation, and case management for public officials and candidates.
Key responsibilities
- Assist the supervising attorney with a variety of legal matters, including research and analysis of statutes, case law, and regulations.
- Prepare and review subpoenas, court orders, affidavits, petitions, briefs, motions, and other legal documents.
- Coordinate case preparation for administrative proceedings, trials, and appeals.
- Gather and organize evidence, exhibits, and supporting documentation for investigations and litigation.
- Respond to inquiries, provide written legal opinions, and disseminate recommendations to staff and external parties.
- Serve as a liaison between the commission and the Department of Law, and may supervise support staff as needed.
Required profile
- Law degree and admission to practice law.
- Strong analytical abilities and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work under close supervision while handling complex legal tasks.
