Controls Engineer (Mid-level) – Richmond, VA

About the role

Dubak Electrical Group LLC is seeking a skilled Controls Engineer to design, develop, and maintain control systems for manufacturing and automation processes. The role involves PLC programming, HMI development, and electrical design to ensure efficiency, reliability, and safety of client systems.

Key responsibilities

• Independently execute design, programming, and commissioning of control subsystems and small projects.
• Develop and maintain electrical schematics, control panel layouts, and AutoCAD drawings.
• Perform system integration, including motor controls, sensors, VFDs, motion‑control and safety systems.
• Program, troubleshoot, and support PLCs, HMIs, SCADA, and related instrumentation.
• Conduct testing, validation, debugging, and FAT/SAT documentation.
• Provide technical support, training, and on‑site commissioning for clients, traveling up to 60%.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
• 3–8 years of mid‑level experience designing integrated control solutions for manufacturing or process environments.
• Hands‑on experience with HMI programming (FactoryTalk View, ME/SE, Ignition) and PLC programming (Allen‑Bradley/RSLogix, Studio 5000, CCW).
• Familiarity with UL508A standards, control panel design, and electrical schematics.
• Strong written and verbal communication, problem‑solving skills, and ability to work both independently and within multidisciplinary teams.
