Composites Engineer

About the role

Reflect Orbital is seeking a Composites Engineer to lead the development and production of ultra‑light deployable composite structures for space applications. You will work at the intersection of design, analysis, and hands‑on manufacturing, turning concepts from CAD to flight hardware.

Key responsibilities

• Own engineering and process development for all in‑house composite structures.
• Develop, validate, and optimize laminate schedules, cure cycles, and layup techniques.
• Design tooling, molds, fixtures, and inspection methods for thin high‑precision parts.
• Run experiments to characterize materials and processes and implement manufacturing controls.
• Diagnose and resolve manufacturing and structural issues, supporting floor fabrication as needed.
• Drive continual improvement in surface quality, dimensional tolerance, repeatability, and yield.

Required profile

• 4–6 years of composites engineering experience spanning design, processing, and manufacturing.
• Strong background in aerospace structures or high‑performance manufacturing.
• Hands‑on experience with layup, cure, bonding, and inspection of composite parts.
• Experience designing tooling, molds, or fixtures for composites.
• Familiarity with structural analysis (FEA, laminate theory) and quality control methods.

Required skills

• Composite laminate schedule development
• Cure cycle optimization
• Tooling and fixture design
• Material characterization experiments
• FEA and laminate theory analysis
• CNC routing and autoclave alternatives

What we offer

• Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage (company‑paid)
• HSA, FSA, and 401(k) options
• Unlimited paid time off
• Daily healthy lunches
• Equal opportunity employment
