Principal Mission Operations Engineer

About the role

Reflect Orbital is looking for a senior engineer to define and lead spacecraft operations as the fleet expands. You will shape the operations concept, flight rules, fault management, and automation roadmap for a growing constellation.

Key responsibilities

• Define the operations concept, shift models, automation strategy, and operations center design.
• Develop and maintain flight rules, command authority, go/no‑go processes, and anomaly response standards.
• Lead launch, LEOP, commissioning, and other critical mission phases.
• Define fault management and onboard FDIR philosophy with flight software.
• Investigate high‑severity anomalies and drive corrective actions.
• Plan and lead operational readiness activities, simulations, and operator training.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related STEM field.
• 10+ years of satellite mission operations experience.
• Proven leadership in critical mission events and scaling operations.
• Strong communication, judgment, and composure under pressure.

Required skills

• Proficiency with mission control software (e.g., OpenC3 COSMOS, L3Harris InControl).
• Strong programming and scripting (Python, C++ preferred).
• Experience with DevOps tools (Git, Docker, CI/CD pipelines).
