Community Banking and Applications Intern

About the role

The Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland is seeking innovative thinkers to join the Supervision, Credit Risk, & Statistics (SCS) department as a Community Banking and Applications Intern. This 10‑ to 12‑week full‑time internship provides hands‑on experience in financial institution supervision and data‑driven analysis.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct research and analysis of financial condition reviews for institutions in the Fourth District.
• Participate in field examinations, ongoing monitoring, and review of reports, workpapers, and regulatory filings for state member banks and bank holding companies.
• Identify business process improvements and design analytical solutions leveraging emerging technologies such as AI/ML.
• Assist with data validation, reporting accuracy, and integrity.

Required profile

• Currently pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree in Finance, Economics, Business Analytics, Data Science, or a related field with a minimum GPA of 3.0.
• U.S. citizen, permanent resident, or green‑card holder with at least one semester remaining.
• Ability to work in a deadline‑driven environment, multitask, and collaborate both in groups and individually.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Microsoft Office, especially Excel and Access.
• Familiarity or proficiency in programming languages such as Python, R, or SQL.
