Clinical/Medical Lab Scientist or Technician – Transfusion Services

About the role

The Clinical/Medical Lab Scientist or Technician will work in the Transfusion Services laboratory on Kings Hwy, receiving and preparing specimens, performing a wide range of laboratory tests, and ensuring accurate results for patient diagnosis and treatment.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, process, and prepare specimens according to established protocols.
• Perform routine and specialized laboratory testing, including phlebotomy when required.
• Conduct quality control, instrument calibration, maintenance, and troubleshooting to maintain accuracy and precision.
• Document and report test results, escalating out‑of‑control findings and recording corrective actions.
• Follow regulatory, safety, and accreditation standards, including OIG compliance and proficiency testing.
• Assist with performance‑improvement initiatives, data analysis, and inventory management of supplies and reagents.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science, or related scientific field (associate degree acceptable with military MLT certificate).
• Current state license or ability to obtain a Clinical Lab Scientist/Technician license within 90 days of hire.
• ASCP, AMT, or AAB certification (generalist or discipline‑specific) as required.
• Effective verbal and written communication, analytical problem‑solving, and good judgment.
• Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights, weekends, holidays, and on‑call availability.
