Clinical/Medical Lab Scientist or Technician – Microbiology Lab

About the role

The Clinical/Medical Lab Scientist or Technician will work in the Microbiology Lab on Kings Highway, receiving and preparing specimens, performing laboratory tests, and providing data to support diagnosis and treatment. The role includes quality control, equipment maintenance, phlebotomy, and strict confidentiality of patient information.

Key responsibilities

• Receive, process, and analyze specimens according to standard protocols.
• Perform routine and specialized microbiology tests independently and accurately.
• Conduct quality control, calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments.
• Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, including safety and proficiency testing.
• Participate in performance‑improvement initiatives and manage inventory of supplies and reagents.
• Adapt communication and procedures to respect patient privacy and needs.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology, clinical laboratory science or related scientific field (or associate degree with military MLT certificate).
• Current Clinical Lab Scientist Generalist license (or obtain within 90 days) and ASCP/AMT/AAB certification within 90 days of hire.
• Ability to perform phlebotomy and handle specimens safely.
• Proficiency with Windows‑based computer applications for data entry and retrieval.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills.
