Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 to provide investigative and comprehensive case management for children and adults experiencing abuse or neglect. This entry‑level position reports to the Child Welfare Services Supervisor and is based in Hamilton, Harris County.

Key responsibilities

• Respond promptly to screened‑in reports of alleged child maltreatment, conduct safety assessments and develop immediate safety plans.
• Locate children and families when contact is not initially possible and implement Solution Based Casework.
• Partner with families to create and use Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and Family Plans.
• Complete genograms, identify support networks, and collaborate with community partners.
• Ensure adequate visit frequency, address physical, educational, and mental health needs, and establish permanency goals.
• Maintain stable foster care placements, promote sibling placement, and preserve children’s community connections.
• Document case activities within policy timeframes and serve on after‑hours on‑call duty.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Willingness to undergo agency testing, background checks, and drug screening.
• Ability to travel using a privately owned vehicle for work‑related duties.
