Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 (CRRU)

About the role

The Georgia Department of Human Services is seeking a Child Welfare Services Case Manager 1 to provide investigative and comprehensive case management for children and adults at risk of abuse or neglect. This full‑time position is based in Preston, Webster County, and offers a supportive public‑service environment.

Key responsibilities

• Initiate timely, face‑to‑face responses to screened‑in reports of alleged child maltreatment and conduct safety assessments.
• Develop and implement safety plans, conduct search efforts to locate children/families, and use Solution Based Casework (SBC).
• Partner with families to create Family Functioning Agreements, Action Plans, and Family Plans, and complete genograms to identify support networks.
• Collaborate with community partners to ensure adequate visits, address physical, educational, and mental health needs, and establish permanency goals.
• Maintain stable foster care placements, promote sibling placement, and preserve children’s connections to community and family.
• Document case activities within policy timeframes, use a personal vehicle for work‑related travel, and serve on after‑hours on‑call duty.

Required profile

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university.
• Three years of case management experience, or one year at the lower level Child Welfare Services Case Manager 2.
• Ability to pass agency testing, background checks, and drug screening.
