Child Life Specialist – Full Time

About the role

The Child Life Specialist is an integral member of the multidisciplinary healthcare team, providing developmentally appropriate, evidence‑based psychosocial support to pediatric patients and their families.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct developmental and psychosocial assessments to guide individualized care planning.
• Design and implement therapeutic interventions that support coping, emotional expression, and procedural preparation.
• Educate families and caregivers on coping strategies and developmental needs.
• Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other team members to ensure coordinated, patient‑centered care.
• Maintain accurate clinical documentation and mentor Child Life Assistants and interns.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree in child life, child development, psychology, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
• Completion of an accredited Child Life Internship and eligibility to sit for the Child Life Certification exam.
• At least 1 year of experience in child life or related field; 2 years of clinical experience in a pediatric setting preferred.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required; Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) preferred.

• Strong interpersonal skills for interacting courteously with patients, families, and staff.
