Chief Legal Officer (CLO)

About the role

The Chief Legal Officer (CLO) reports to the Executive Committee and is a key member of the executive leadership team. The CLO provides strategic legal counsel, oversees enterprise contract management, leads growth initiatives, and supports operational excellence across the firm.

Key responsibilities

• Serve as the principal legal advisor to the Executive Committee and leadership team, providing strategic counsel on legal, regulatory, governance and risk matters.
• Oversee the firm’s legal affairs, including contract management, risk mitigation, corporate governance and legal operations.
• Direct the compliance function through oversight of the Chief Compliance Officer and align compliance with business objectives.
• Lead cross‑functional strategic initiatives and special projects that drive growth, scalability and operational excellence.

Required profile

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school.
• 12–15 years of legal experience, including senior in‑house counsel or general counsel roles.
• Proven track record leading complex contract negotiations and enterprise contract management programs.
• Experience driving cross‑functional strategic initiatives from concept through implementation.

Required skills

• Strong understanding of corporate governance, compliance, risk management and employment law.
• Exceptional leadership, communication and interpersonal abilities.
• Proficiency in leveraging technology and data analytics to improve legal operations.
