Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO)

About the role

The Chief Human Resources Officer (CHRO) serves as the senior HR executive for Texas A&M International University, advising the Vice President for Finance & Administration and the CFO on all human capital matters. The role provides strategic leadership to attract, develop, engage and retain a high‑performing workforce while ensuring compliance with federal, state and university regulations.

Key responsibilities

• Member of the Vice President for Finance & Administration leadership team, shaping workforce strategy and organizational effectiveness.
• Lead enterprise‑wide workforce planning, change management and organizational design initiatives.
• Develop and oversee compensation programs, market salary studies, internal equity reviews and executive compensation recommendations.
• Drive talent acquisition, employer branding, recruitment marketing and candidate experience improvements.
• Champion HR technology modernization, including HRIS upgrades, workflow automation, digital HR processes, AI‑assisted tools and HR dashboards.
• Provide executive coaching, succession planning, culture assessment and employee engagement strategies.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
• At least 10 years of progressive HR leadership experience, including 5 years managing professional HR staff.
• Proven experience in organizational development, compensation design, change management and advising senior leadership.
• Higher‑education experience, preferably within the Texas A&M University System.
• Relevant HR certifications (HRCI, SHRM‑SCP, SPHR) are a plus.
