About the role
The Georgia Department of Agriculture seeks a Chemical/Material Analyst to support the Tifton Fuel Laboratory, testing motor, aviation and renewable fuels for purity, performance and compliance.
Key responsibilities
- Perform receiving, logging, visual inspection and sample preparation for petroleum products.
- Conduct ASTM‑based analyses of gasoline, diesel, jet fuel, motor oils and related products.
- Enter test results into the laboratory information system and generate required reports.
- Inspect laboratory equipment for compliance and assist management with technical issues.
Required profile
- Bachelor’s degree in a physical or natural science (advanced degree preferred).
- Ability to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 lb and work with petroleum vapors.
Required skills
- Proficiency with ASTM analytical methods for fuel testing.
- Experience using a Laboratory Information System (LIS) for data entry and reporting.
