Chaplain – Part‑Time Days

About the role

The Chaplain provides spiritual assessment and care to patients, families, and staff across Lehigh Valley Health Network. This part‑time day‑shift role supports individuals during challenging or traumatic situations and contributes to the hospital’s holistic care approach.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain a pastoral presence, offering accompaniment and spiritual guidance to patients and families.
• Assess spiritual needs and deliver appropriate interventions, considering demographics and development.
• Provide crisis support during traumas, difficult decisions, and alerts.
• Participate in interdisciplinary teams such as ethics, palliative, hospice, and cancer care.
• Offer invocations, blessings, and benedictions at network functions and memorial services.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s degree and at least 3 years of experience as a hospital or facilities chaplain.
• Completion of at least 1 unit of Clinical Pastoral Education (CPE); 2‑4 units preferred.
• Familiarity with diverse religious and spiritual beliefs, practices, and denominations.
• Ability to monitor and assess performance for continuous improvement.
