Certified Medical Assistant – Gastroenterology Clinic

About the role

The Certified Medical Assistant will provide individualized medical care to patients in a gastroenterology clinic, supporting the attending physician and ensuring smooth patient flow. The role involves in‑person, electronic, and telephone interactions under the supervision of a licensed health‑care provider.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare patients and providers for each visit and ensure the exam room is ready.
• Answer patient questions, provide information over the phone and in person, and complete registration documentation.
• Document clinical information in the company’s data systems accurately and promptly.
• Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information in a fast‑paced environment.
• Adapt communication style to diverse patient populations and respect privacy.
• Comply with Department of Transportation drug‑testing policies when applicable.
• Perform additional duties as assigned and follow all company policies and standards.

Required profile

• High School Diploma or GED (required); completion of a formal medical assistant training program (preferred).
• Medical Assistant Certification and Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Experience handling confidential information and working in a fast‑paced setting with minimal supervision.
• Strong interpersonal and customer‑service abilities to interact with patients and families.
